Our mission is to delve into the lives of successful female scientists and find out a bit more about them in effort for us (Girls in Science) to make accurate, informed decisions about our lives and educational choices...
We want to present the realities of the variety of exciting careers in science, and then help you get there with tips and tricks and inspiring stories to keep you focused along the way.
About 3 years ago, I was having a conversation with some super-bright A-level students who wanted to get into engineering; I thought I would take it upon myself to try and find out a little bit of information for them… it was through that, that I realised how scarce and how generalistic all the information out there was. During my Biomedical Sciences degree a module for Science Communications came up and I jumped on it. I thought it was an amazing way to combine my two loves of film and television and the sciences into one great project. And so; Girls in Science was born.
We figured; not every young girl gets to have meetings with successful professional female scientists to ask about life lessons, career goals and educational experiences … so Girls in Science is about making those meetings accessible to absolutely everyone who wants to hear them.
