So quite a few of you girls have read the articles on GIS going to the BioLadies event a few months ago. I really enjoyed it and became great friends with the Founder Iris Anderson, one day we had lunch in Westminster and came up with the idea of a joint event. Cut to a few months later and its all set !
I think the real concept behind this was being able to bring together the two worlds of Girls and Ladies into a room where they could speak, and really gain insight into different perspectives.
I’ve certainly benefited so much from hearing and knowing so many incredible accomplished science-based professionals, and I want that exact same experience for the girls coming as well. We have a range of speakers :
Dr. Lucie Pfalzgraff from the NNFCC
Rebecca Rafferty from Women in Tech York
Sarah Hickingbottom the CEO of Biovale
Dr Chris Holland from Sheffield University
Yvonne Armitage, YTC
Lucy Montgomery, NNFCC
and James Newton from Native Architects
- Just to mention a few, there will be academics, women in industry and public sector.
More than that – I have to say , I am so so incredibly excited to meet some of you girls that have been following the blog all this time, I think stepping out of the virtual hemisphere we currently reside in and actually meting you face-to-face will be such a highlight.
The students session of the evening will start at 4:30 – and not to worry, we’ve got dinner covered 😉 – The BioLadies join us at 5:30 and the evening finishes at 9:30; but you can leave as soon as you like. – Parents are also wlecome to come !
It will be at the lovely lakeside Pitcher and Piano, and it promises to be a fabulous evening – come with your thinking hats on and go out of your way to intorduce yourself to some of the high-profile ladies that will be there
We’ve had more than 30 tickets taken in the past few hours, so as soon as you can, sign up for free HERE
Can’t wait to see you !
